Mixed Metals

Another trend of 2013 is mixing metals (gold and silver) when accessorizing an outfit. Many people veer away from this trend because it is very unfamiliar and mis-matchy. But not matching is the new matching!

This trend is very bold, and it can easily be pulled off by anyone! Gemvara gives three important rules to follow when mixing two tones. The key to wearing this new style (and many others, as well) is by showing extra confidence. If you feel great in an outfit and strut your confidence, it attracts others around you! So please try this trend! It is one of my all-time favorites that I just started wearing about three months ago. It was tough at first because I am usually all about matching, but I bought a two-tone watch that is now my go-to piece!

Charming Charlie came out with this idea of “mixing tones, metals, and chains” back in November, and it caught many customers and employees off guard. Fashion has always been about pairing similar colors together. But in recent years, it is more fashionably appropriate to mis-match, which is a very difficult concept, especially for the older crowd. I remember trying to sell some of this mixed metals pieces, such as necklaces, bracelets, and watches and the customers would look at me in complete horror. They have never heard of such a thing! At that point, I had not bought any items that showcased the new trend, so I decided to buy a watch (pictured above) that I really liked. I would wear it to work everyday, and before long, I had customers asking me where they could buy a watch like mine!

This trend is so easy if you start with one simple piece, like my watch for instance. You can also pair a silver watch with gold bangles, as shown in the picture above.

Once you are comfortable witht that, try wearing multiple bracelets together to create a statement!

When you feel like you have mastered the bracelets, try wearing different metals in your necklaces. The picture above has four different necklaces to show you just how well gold and silver look together, but you can of course only wear one necklace that has two tones, or you can wear two different toned necklaces.

I know that this trend may seem scary and intimidating to some of you, but I promise it will make you look so chic! Perth Style shows fantastic ways to wear mixed metals in both clothes and accessories. I urge you to check it out! All of the pictures featured were taken at Charming Charlie, and all of the merchandise is sold at Charming Charlie locations.
